【レースリポート】レッドブルホーリーライドbyキャリー渡辺

Stumpyでっす。東京はもどうにでもなれと思っちゃう暑さです。北海道か長野へ逃げたい…
さて、MTB好きなGirlsの頼れる味方、キャリー姐さんがウワサの「レッドブル」に出場しましたよ。
早速、本人からリポートが来たのでアップするぜぃ。

Weather: Rain before the race, but hot and very humid at 35 degrees during the day

Result 76th Place in Open Class and 3rd overall in Elite Women, time 1:45.068

Equipment Used:
Bike: Specialized 2011 Demo 8 I,
Tires: 2.5 DH Pin it on the front and the rear. Tire pressure 1.8 in the front and the rear

Course Condition: The course consisted of a ancient temples 400 stone stairs. We raced from the top of the stairs to the bottom. The stairs were fairly wide about 1.5- 2 meters across, with various steepnesses down the course. These stairs were made of stone and concrete and very slippery. They dried out somewhat but most of them always remain in a wet state due to the heavy moisture in the area.
石の４００階段がボトムまで続く、1.5メートルから２メートルコース幅、階段の落差は上部はやや深かった。所々コンクリートは濡れていてとても滑った。

Race Details: We were allowed only one practice run in the morning after the walking course inspection. For the practice run I took it very easy and tested out the traction on the stairs, especially in the corners, for they were the most dangerous. Braking was very difficult because just a slight tap and you started to slide.
1度の試走と朝のコースウォークを行った。試走では、とてもゆっくりとした速度でトラクションを感じたり危険な個所を探した。そしてゆっくりとブレーキしても滑るので、非常に難しかった。

For the qualifier, I pushed as hard as I could but was still very cautious in the corners, I tried to gain as much speed as possible on the stairs in the straight aways but always slowed down in the corners… it was a great challenge and the final sprint was great.
予選では、ストレートの階段ではスピードに乗りプッシュしましたが、コーナーはとても危険な為スローダウンしなくてはなりませんでした。又、最後の区間は挑戦でスプリントしました。良くできたと思います。

I didn’t make the top 32, but I had a great experience. The race was very well organized and very exciting for the spectators. You could watch the race on a big screen at the bottom of the course or you could line up on some of the sides of the upper portions of the course. Many people turned out to watch and there was ample media coverage, including several newspapers and Kansai Television. A truly great event to open peoples eyes to our exciting sport of downhill mountain biking.
32人のセミファイナルへは残れませんでしたが、とても良い経験をしました。
このレースは巨大スクリーンにレースの模様が映し出され、会場全体が盛り上がり壮観でした。多くのメディアプレスも来ていました。新聞・関西テレビなどへ露出。
大勢の人たちにダウンヒル　マウンテンバイクの躍動感が目に焼きつくことでしょう。

My new demo 8 I, ran like a dream. The tires I found to have pretty good grip considering the conditions. I was pretty confident on them and only slipped out once during the qualifier. The bike handles so well in the corners and it rides very light. The feel and size of the bike seem to fit me perfectly. I feel so good on it and it attracted so much attention in the Specialized Booth. Many people tried it and were very impressed with the feel and the look. The colors seem to really be a hit with this bike. Having the mechanical booth was a great way to show off this bike.
デモ８は夢のような走りをもたらします。タイヤは1回だけ滑りましたが良いグリップなのでかなり自身が持てました。このバイクのコーナリングはとても軽く感じ非常に操作しやすく気に入っています。又、ブースには興味を持ったライダーがたくさん訪れ、試乗に来られる方も多く最高の機材を見てもらえた事はとても良かったと思う。
